A Short History of America

One of the things I enjoy about the following set of drawings is that, at first glance, they look like something Eric Sloane would have drawn. Of course, "A Short History of America" is the work of Robert Crumb, published in the Coevolution Quarterly in 1979.

The landscape looked a lot better (to me) in the first two or three frames. But then I was raised kind of in the 'country' and appreciate the peace and quiet.

I've always loved Crumb's work. He has such a great sense of wry humor in his illustrations.

It's interesting to see how long the old tree lasts before it is cut down to make way for "progress".
