In a sudden fantasy, I imagined the shot widening to show Albert Lee sitting in a chair, white cowboy boots propped on a wooden crate, Telcaster in hand.

Odd?

Maybe a whole lot like that!

Ever see anyone who appears to love what he does a s much as Albert Lee? Or anyone who is as good at it?

Whys isn't he the most famous picker in the world, now that Les Paul has passed on?

Thanks, that made for a great Monday morning.

If I remember correctly, Albert Lee and James Burton were in Emmylou Harris' band when I saw her in concert at some old ice hockey rink in Winston-Salem way back around 1975 or so. Good stuff indeed!

I was inflexible in my tastes back when we were teens- I only listened to rock music, and a narrow spectrum at that, and therefore missed out on many wonderful opportunities. I could have seen Albert Lee back in the day! I missed a lot of wonderful musicians by being a philistine.

Ah, well- i've moved on

EmmyLou was quoted once saying that when she gets to heaven and they ask her what she did her reply would be: I got to play rhythym guitar for Albert Lee.
A guitarist's guitar player and from all acoounts a truly nice guy.

I'd seen that quote and forgotten it. It's kind of like talking to authors and asking them what they are reading and hearing, over and over: George Garrett.
